Remy Ong, Singapore's Notorious Mr Hit-and-Run

Remy Ong.

By now I guess more than 3/4 of Singapore's population knows your stinky name. Even my dad does. Surprised? I never heard of your name till you knock down a pregnant mongrel (and she passed on about 20mins later), affectionately known as OUR Singapore Special. Don't smirk, cos' you are not famous, but NOTORIOUS. Infamous? A resounding YES.

To read the nicely-painted version of the hit-and-run by our local media, CLICK HERE. And to read the first-hand encounter from a kind-hearted cyclist, Danny who tried to save the poor mongrel who eventually passed on 20mins later, CLICK HERE. He's appealing for the 4 witnesses and I really hope they do come forth, even just 1 or 2 will be just great to bring some justice to your four-legged friend.

Let's see what Remy Ong said, which has tonnes of contradictions. I think anyone, can analyze and know it's utter bullshit. How can your own tales don't even match? Hmm.. We shall see below. Anyway, feel really honored that this entire post is for you, our Mr Hit-and-Run. You are taught to knock your ten pins IN THE BOWLING ALLEY DOWN, not knock down our mongrel and her precious unborn puppies (which the media missed out on the papers, deliberately, I choose to believe). Below quotes are from 20th Feb 2012's Straits Times.

#01. "He (Remy Ong) said he was driving at 40km/h."
40km/h, nice joke. You get yourself such a lavish Porsche to drive at this snail speed, who are you trying to kid? You mentioned that "the dog dashed out from behind the tree". Driving at such speed, could you not have stopped in time? Kind of hard to believe. Because even a driver driving at 60-80km/h can stop in time, you couldn't? Do you have a driving license? Or did your braking system went down? Certainly not.

#02. "The dog came out of nowhere. I felt a brush, so I thought it went underneath the car."
This sentence itself, we have a chunk of rebuttals, you liar. Out of nowhere? Didn't you say she dashed out from behind the tree? So she came out from nowhere or behind a tree? Go see a shrink or get your brains check cos' your memory is obviously failing. Second, you said you felt a brush. She had 2 broken legs, how could that be even a brush? That impact is so huge that your expensive car plate (which you returned to retrieve it in fear that people will trace you down and they did) "SGS 300B" came off? How can it be just a brush? Third, you thought she went underneath your car?! Oh c'mon your Porsche is low, like any sports car, and how on earth can she go underneath SAFELY without any injuries since you assumed it's merely a brush. I think even she can't even go under a truck safely, what about your blood-stained Porsche? You couldn't even stop the car, step out and check on her? What has all these years of education done to you?! Oh wait, we don't even need to be educated, this is social responsibility and all we need is a conscious heart, which you don't happen to have one. Having thought that she went underneath the car, shouldn't you even check on her? Does she look like any stunt performer that she can get away with your car unharmed? Btw, you do have a rear-view mirror, don't you?!

And you happily went away and only return for your very expensive car plate which unfortunately, yet fortunately at the same time, detached after your oh-so-light brush? So you only felt something amiss after so long? Your brain must be malfunctioned since it took you quite some time to even realize. Do you think we, educated Singaporeans and everyone around the world believe your tales? We don't. She suffered for another 20mins after your "brush". If you had stepped out and rush her to the animal hospital, something could have been done. We could have saved her, and/or her unborn pups.

#03. "I'm sad and I feel sorry for the dog. I'm a dog owner myself, but there's nothing much I could do."
There is certainly a lot more you can do and being a man and owning up your mistakes and not lying through your teeth without even blinking. So what if you are our national bowler? Are you even setting a right example to the rest of the population? The article stated you have a poodle. Even your poodle can go under your car when it's on four, how on earth can our medium-sized mongrel is way bigger? There's nothing you can do now for her, but you could have done something like sending her to seek immediate medical treatment. I hope you won't tell us you will be afraid that she's aggressive.

#04. "Under the Road Traffic Act, anyone in an accident in which an animal is injured is required to stop his vehicle to help. Those who do not do so can be fined up to $3,000 or jailed for up to a year."
I would like to question, if he would have knocked down a human, would he have gotten off just like that without getting prosecuted? Our law is lop-sided, and does not favour animals, up till today despite all the forums, nothing much has been done. Something is changing, but it's changing too slowly. We need to have better compassion for animals. Just because he's a national representative, it's ok for him to knock down a dog without any punishment? No. Is an animal's life any less worthy than ours? No. Like what Lena said, the next thing you know, it's ok to knock humans down in Singapore! Continue condoning all these immoral and irresponsible acts, and see how our country and progress.

And I just read that he just went to Dubai for competition hours after the hit-and-run. Oh, so it seems that it's perfectly ok? This guy is gonna ruin Singapore's reputation, for sure. The whole online outrage sadly, hasn't been of much pressure to the authority. I was taught that new media is a powerful tool, why isn't it so for this case? When everyone around the globe reads about how our national athlete can hit-and-run without any legal actions, everyone will be laughing at us, a so-called developed country.

Remy Ong, your blood-stained car, your blood-stained hands. You will never sleep in peace and have nightmares every single night. Yes, I wish you have multiple nightmares. How can you knock her down and just go away without any bit of guilt? You will have to reverse and steer before leaving, going by logic unless your Porsche has a special function to fly. Anyway, you are already "famous". And oh, I think everyone will just remember you as Singapore's Hit-And-Run Guy, and not as a National Bowler. How sad isn't it? You have this nice title to follow you forever.

I wonder how you ever dare to walk on the streets. Won't you fear people recognize you and confront you? Don't her image keep popping out in your mind since you alas had a bit of self-conscious and went back to check on her? (Sorry, I still believe you went back only for your expensive SGS 300B car plate.) Even if there's no legal action against you, I hope you will be disqualified from representing Singapore on the global stage because that will only brings mockery to our progressing nation.

NEW IN:

Mr Hit-and-Run on the Chinese papers.

And I just happen to find this picture on Facebook. Mr Remy Ong said he's affected but he can only do his best for the upcoming 2 competitions. He said that the online saga is all because he's Remy Ong. Triple -.- -.- -.- for you. Who cares who on earth you are? Anyone, who handled the situation the same as you, will get the same media reaction. You are a national representative and ought to set good example since you want to shine above the rest. You should know it better than anyone else. You want this fame, but remember, any shame will be as magnified as your "fame".

Before I end, let me imprint his face on everyone's mind so that we will not hesitate to confront in him public if he ever dares to come out. And also remember the poor Singapore Special and her unborn puppies who sacrificed for our bowler who never dared to admit what he did.

Remy Ong, who wasn't even at all remorseful.

And look how quickly his Wiki profile was updated.

If you have any issues about my post, and you are that tiny weeny minority of many less than 0.1% of the population that sides him, go ahead and side him. What I posted are my views and my analysis which I believe happens to be the same as many others. You can go ahead and form a support group for our Mr Hit-and-Run. Remy Ong, I DESPISE YOU. A MAN WITH NO INTEGRITY, NO COMPASSION AND A "GREAT" STORYTELLER.

Lifelong Commitment

I'm kind of bothered by the net for the past few days, because of the countless dogs looking for new home. I don't find it at all strange to see mongrels up for adoption, because they are rescued and somehow, it's inevitable beacuse we cannot possibly sterilize every single female. Some are non-human friendly, while some, when they are found, it's too late. Either they have already given birth or that they already pregnant. What can we do?

That aside, what about dogs who used to have homes but have to be given up. I believe there are genuine cases that the person can no longer house the dog. E.g. Downgraded from landed to HDB, brought the dog along and received complaints and authorities come knocking on the door. But how about we put this scenario beside a case whereby the wife is pregnant and oh, it's will affect the baby if I have a dog. If that's the case we probably have millions of affected babies, huh? Did I ask your wife to eat your dog's fur everyday? Or this scenario: My work is too busy, I have no time to take care of it anymore. Hello, are you dumb or what? Don't you have other things to sacrifice other than this loyal companion who's always here, dedicated the entire life for you. Even you start to neglect your dog, it can't do anything. Are you so sure that you have not wasted your not-so-precious precious time on other things? I doubt so.

Next, I've ranted on Facebook already and many like-minded friends are with me. Dear teenagers (more like mentally you are still a teen since your thoughts are so immature), why must you post things like "I have asked my bf/gf and we're serious in adopting it". May I ask, how old are you? How sure are you that you gonna last forever with your partner? I've been with him for slightly more than three years and forever still seems far-fetched for me right now. What about you, kiddos? Why don't you ask your family members instead, especially your parents since they are the head of the family and most financial resources come from them anyway. That question alone, I make a bold assumption that you intend to keep it with your partner? Oh, that's very responsible of you. So when you two break up (just a matter of time) in awhile, who's gonna keep the dog? So your very "kind-hearted" partner who kept the dog will prolly say "oh, we broke up, it brings bad memories" or some other crap that he/she can think of. Who are you trying to kid? Do we not know how easy it is to come up with something to dump the poor little fella?

Then next you have people wanting to adopt hdb-approved puppies. i.e. maltese, chihuahua, pomeranian, and the list goes on. Yes basically just the pedigree puppies you can find in pet stores. Do you really have the sweet intention to adopt and save a life, or you simply just want to save your pocket from the big burnt hole since the puppies you demand for, don't come cheap, and it's easily a whooping 4 digit. If you have the heart, I guess you'll just be looking to adopt a hdb-approved breed. Fully grown dogs that are hdb-approved, you can easily find them. They may not be old. I've come across dogs that are aged between 1-4yo up for adoption. Why don't you do for them? You want a cuddly cute puppy that will never grow up? I'm sorry, unless you get a soft toy. You can get them with just $10 or less, at Mini Toons, or whatever shopping retail. Oh wait, you want a free puppy. Give you a suggestion, email me, and I'll pay that $10 and get you that toy so as to save the poor dogs out there.

When you wanna get a dog, think whether or not you can commit to it. I know, after my chunks of paragraphs, you must be thinking, my boys were with me when they are puppies. I didn't want to keep them, at the beginning. Even if so, I only wanted 1 because it's hard to handle. They came to us, small and cute (yes, all puppies are cute, no one can deny this fact). As time passes, we grew fond. Not just myself, but my siblings and my parents too, I believe. It's not an easy task, to take turns to hand feed them every few hours. But they were lucky enough to come at golden period, when I have tonnes of time to spare since I wasn't working after my A levels. My brother was having his long holiday too and we made the decision to keep both, since we can't decide who to keep cos' we all have our favourite and separating them is cruel given that they have been together for so many months.

We spend more than a thousand on their skin because of their demodectic mange. Most of my friends will know, how many vets we've consulted just to get their skin cured. We had to engage trainer to train them (and there goes more money), buy them treats, their food, shampoo, grooming tools. Even their collars and leashes don't come cheap! I think per month we spend close to $300-$400 excluding vet bills. What happens if they fall ill out of a sudden? My sister paid hundreds recently because Scramble's skin condition worsened. Do you have the financial means to? I'm not saying poor people are not suitable to be owners, but having a dog is really like having a baby. To be exact, a baby that grows physically but not mentally. They will always behave like this, even when they are 7 yo (human's 49yo) they will still wag their tail, run to you and greet you. These days, kids at 15 don't even have the courtesy to greet their parents when they are home!

Other than financially, what about quality time that you can have with your dog(s). I'm kinda glad we have 2 (and sometimes 3 because of the foster pup), so that they can keep each other occupied when everyone's out. Do you have the time to walk them daily? Even if you are too busy, are you still willing to take out some time, sit down and play fetch with them (that's the very least you should do)? Will you bring them out to make new friends?

This is a long way for me but I'm just trying to foresee it now. When they grow old and start falling ill like how our parents, and grandparents will, will you be there to see them through? Or will you just abandon them because you foresee hefty vet bills on the way? I honestly, can never understand why people abandon their old and/or sick dog. Do you not have attached feelings? Are they just dusty and torn soft toys that you just throw away? Are you gonna do the same to your parents? Are you really gonna throw away this loyal companion who dedicated it's whole life to you? Even when you are busy and don't have the time to look at it, it's still wagging happily, and greeting you when you reach home? Have you not forgotten those day when it was young and small, how much you loved him/she, how much pride it was when you show your friends the pictures when it's still a puppy? The time you loved it wholeheartedly and spend so much time playing with him? I'm sure there were these days. Why can't it be prolonged? Age is just a number. We grow old, dogs too.

It's so painful deep down in my heart to see dogs being put up for adoption, or threatened to be put to sleep because the owner no longer wants them, or no longer have the means to keep them. When you wanted him/her, have you not promised your parents anything in the world, or make a pact with yourself to do a list of stuffs, and be a nice and perfect owner? You did. Why didn't you keep your promise?

End this with a video. Before you choose to part with this loyal friend, think.. How many more years can you have with it? The day you regret, it will be too late. Once it's gone, it's gone forever. Your loyal friend who watched you through your ups and downs, watch your successes, watch you fall and who's always there when you are all alone and wish no one bothered, and hugged your furry friend to tears.. Has all these become bitter sweet memories?

P/s I removed the song on my blog so that you can appreciate this video better.

15 days of Lunar New Year is finally over! This year's CNY is really boring for most people I would say, because I saw all the live Twitter update that everyone's still home at like 3-4pm in the afternoon, on the first day! Some pictures for your viewing pleasure cos' I'm kinda lazy.

Family portrait without Scramble.

Family ; Siblings aka the almighty four.

Cousins (Just 3 out of 15) ; Ah ma's kopi

Then was dear's birthday celebration. Celebrated twice with him because we have another one with Rainbow. Bought him a Mont Blanc wallet and painstakingly handmade a birthday card for him, had Spanish lunch at Vivocity which cost a bomb, then went to the flower exhibition to kill time.

Happy 21st Birthday, Dear!

The card and present.

Celebration with Rainbow was crazy because we attempted to prank him (like how Eunice and Huiling did to me on my 20th birthday), so we blindfolded him and made him walk all the way to Minds Cafe like a kukubird. On top of that, a matching apron. Then we played games and yelled along with other strangers. It was more of like a bonding session for us la. Nothing much like a birthday celebration except for the present (French Connection watch), card, and birthday cake.

On Saturday, we had the biggest paternal family event like every year. Ah Ma's birthday! She turned 77th and I'm very thankful that she's blessed with good health, and still as cheerful as before. I got to say, I had lots of fun with my paternal family and my crazy genes is from here. Everyone, including my aunts, uncles, dad, cousins, are wild and crazy. But that just shows how fun we are. ;-)

Lou hei session with the clan.

My forever cute grandmother.

This kinship will, and can never be replaced.

I didn't have lots of fun this CNY in particular cos' something seems to be lagging. As we grow older, CNY seems less and less significant. Angbaos and new clothes no longer make me happy. I want something more sophisticated which I can't even list down for now. Anyway, the upcoming 3-4 months gotta be real boring and hectic for me because my exams are approaching in no time, without me realizing it. Till then!

Closure to Splendid 2011

Hello 2012!

Remember 3 years ago, if you’ve been following my blog, I said new year resolutions are bullshits. How many of you actually fulfill it? Be honest to yourself. There’s no point coming up with chunks of paragraphs. If you want to be a better person, just do it. You need not show the whole world what you want to achieving in the upcoming year. Do they get prizes a year later when they catch you not striking of anything from the list? No.
I just hope my 2012 will be miraculously good to me and that I can travel out of Singapore more often. Krabi and BKK is a must this year, and please please let the family Taiwan trip come true. When was the last time we went overseas together? And the Tibet hiking trip might still be on. I need to save up quite alot isn't it? Lots of 21st birthday parties to attend and my desire to go overseas.

#01. Pizza and IKEA
Had a gigantic 21 inch pizza with Miss Khiew and Huiling some time back. I thought it was cheap, just $50 nett, then my sister say I can get 4 California Pizza, and I was like.. oh yeah. Nonetheless good catch-up with my very sisterly teacher and Huiling. Following that I had IKEA with Eunice. We ordered so damn much of food! Daim cake was awesome and it might be in my next "to bake list".

Look how big the pizza is. We almost finished it.

#02. Papa's 55th Birthday
My dad turned 55, rounding up, he’s 60! Though I always complain and talk back to him, I gotta be really grateful he never once lay his hands on me, despite me being the most disobedient. I did tell myself to treat him nicer and more like a father and respect him like how I would do for my mother. All I can do for start is to help him buy dinner and buy things if he requests me to. I still give a black face anyway. Happy 55th papa and I wish you can smoke lesser to exchange for good health. And thank you for painting the whole house all by yourself while we were out enjoying. God bless you with the best of health.

Happy 55th my one and only papa!

May you be in best of health, and smoke less dad!

How can we exclude the boys?

Skippy on extreme left, and Scramble

#03. X'mas Celebration w/ Qiuyi
Met my bestie for X'mas to pass her what I bought! Saw this uber cute Rilakkuma iPhone casing and I know she'll love it. She bought be a tiny crystal angel, a super nice tin from Disney and a lion lock. I know because I'm Queen Leo, hence the lion. Friend, wanna let you know, thank you for being by my side all these while. We gone to different places to study (secretly hoping you'll come to SIM) but we're still in contact. I love meeting you, be it eating, suntanning or staying over and catching up with the tiniest bit of your lives. 8 years and counting!

Bestie for 8 years! *LOVE*

#04. X'mas Celebration w/ Secondary Girls

#05. X'mas Celebration w/ University Girls
We had tutorial before that and head out for lunch and gift exchange. I've just gotten Liangyu's present because she had forgotten to bring it out that day. Erm, it's still sitting in my bag, so I shall open it up later. These are the girls we always talk and gossip to me on Friday during my freaking long 4 hours break!

Left to Right: Liangyu, Jocelyn, Yenling, Zhijun, Grace, Me.

#6. Mini dog run
My brother went around our place to recce for good place to let the dogs go off leash and run around freely. This street soccer court is fenced, with a gate. So it’s our favourite hide out since it’s away from residential area and right beside the highway. Just 10mins walk away and we can jog around in the park connector with the dogs, then let them play inside the court. The boys enjoy playing fetch there, alot.

 Having a good time.

Scramble on the left, Skippy on the right.

#07. X'mas Eve with siblings
One of my best Christmas because it's been a few years we last celebrated it together because we all have friends and partners to spend it with. It's rare that we all are home, probably cos' everyone saved it for either loved ones. My very annoying bf overslept and I asked him not to meet me. Seems like it was a right choice, because I had a good night spending with my siblings. We had log cake for the first time too! We spend our New Year's Eve together as well, watched Sherlock Homes and.. countdown on our way home..

My creative idea. No X'mas tree? Eeyore will do!

Family portrait, with replacements for parents and ah ma ; Skippy and I

Received portable speaker and Nike+ ; Bro got deodorant and Razor mouse.

Erjie will all pink and Melody stuffs ; Dongxing ; Dajie w/ cork opener and bedsheet.

Our very first X'mas log cake ; 三朵花

#08. X'mas with LOVE
Christmas celebration with my bbf after a big tiff. But it’s alright, we’ll back to normal again. Yes, I know we quarrel every other day but this time it’s really a big one but we had talk things out again. He brought me to Titanic exhibition with real artifacts dug out from the wrecked ship. Interesting exhibition but I doubt I will ever pay $21 just to see them. It was a pity, no photography inside (all exhibitions are like that I know) but I saw so many people taking photos secretly. No I didn’t, I’m a law-abiding citizen. After that we went to walk around and chill by the river and then back to my favourite peaceful place with Chinese food.

He refused to wear the X'mas hat out with me.

 Titanic Artifact Exhibition!

In love with the tube top seriously.

Pretty pictures in the car after dinner!

#09. Rainbow X'mas New Year Party
Time spent with them always feels so good and for the entire night, I was in my own world, having fun and nothing to worry about. We had steamboat, and then went over Eterna’s place to exchange gifts, have some drinks and play games. Mr Lim gave us this name. He said we’re a rainbow, each of a colour with different strengths and we bring joy to each other. Had quite alot of presents from that night because even though we said gift exchange, some of us bought presents for the others. (You know how much we enjoyed looking at the number of photos I upload)

Having hell lots of good time with his Baby Doll from Huiling.

Gifts from everyone for the exchange.

 Exchanging gifts

 With the gifts we chose

  With the gifts we chose

 We'll always be like this.

Madness in the house, yo!

Favourite girls!

#10. Skippy and Scramble's 1st Birthday
My 2 pampered boys finally turned one on 1st January! It’s not a date I chose, they are really New Year babies! We woke up early to pack and prepare their stuffs, and headed down to West Coast Dog Run, Snickers came along too, we haven’t forget about him! Invited friends and adopted dogs. It wasn’t full attendance because last minute Aunty Christine, Stephanie and Lene (Friskies’s adopter) couldn’t come down. Kelly came with her hubby, Sasha and Peanut, Lena and Wayne came with Judy and Juliet (aka Waffles who was adopted), Yinghuei and Kevin came with chilli padi Ocha, Eleuther came with Eu-e, XiaoRong and sister came with Cobbey (aka Romeo). Not forgetting my dearest Huiling who went to collect their birthday party set and came down despite her allergy and fear for dogs! Lots of presents for the boys as well. I think their birthday was more grand than mine. Lucky boys.

Majority of their presents. (I just bought 4 more tees for them)

#11. ZJMB Picnic
ZuMei, Joan, Mandy, Blanche. That’s what ZJMB means. We headed down to Botanic Garden for picnic and had a good time reminiscence  the good old past, what we did and catch up quite alot I guess. Girls are always girls. We camwhored quite alot! Our next meet up will be Darren’s 21st birthday which is just in 2 weeks’ time. I’m lucky to have a big bunch of primary school friends who are still meeting up and this year marks our 10th year of friendship.

Favourite Picture! :D Love the colour accent effect.

Kind of proud of myself for doing up this super duper long and "picture-ful" entry. I think this took up at least 2 hours of my precious time. Alright, the next update shall be after CNY since I'm gonna be busy shopping for clothes, celebrating CNY, working for money so that I can fulfill my traveling desire and lastly, studying and catching up on my studies.
